IndigoBlue, the award-winning Agile Business Change consultancy, is a key partner in the creation of Zapp (www.zapp.co.uk), a groundbreaking product that will make your mobile phone the way to pay.
Zapp will bring the ability for people to pay in real time from their bank account and their mobile phone easily and securely. IndigoBlue has been a key part of the development process for Zapp, incorporating its advanced Agile thinking.
Zapp comes from pedigree stock in the payments world, being a new business backed by VocaLink, which provides a national grid for payments in the UK. When Zapp is launched in 2014, it will change the way people pay for goods and services forever enabling instant secure payments to be sent bank account to bank account by using just a mobile phone and an existing bank account. For businesses using Zapp, this means money reaches their accounts in real time using a customer’s mobile phone as part of the check-out process. A team of consultants from IndigoBlue is working with the Zapp software development and management teams to bring industry-leading Agile thinking to Zapp. IndigoBlue’s approach is unique because it tackles the weaknesses mainstream Agile methodologies leave unaddressed, like effective governance and uncertainty management.
IndigoBlue’s approach is well suited to Zapp because it deals with the two key challenges to successful delivery: time to market and the ability to absorb change. In the fast moving payments business, change is constant and speed is essential. Agile delivers software faster than traditional project management processes which reduces the time to market. The IndigoBlue uncertainty management process is designed to manage risk and provide control whist responding to change. This means Zapp gets the greater flexibility it needs in a highly dynamic market. While Zapp is not being released until next year, the build process which IndigoBlue has designed means that working software is already coming off the production line.
Rob Smith, Managing Director of IndigoBlue commented: “I’m delighted that IndigoBlue has been a key contributor in this exciting step forward for mobile commerce. It has further evidenced the success our approach brings in fast-paced, innovative environments.”
Justin Basini, Chief Marketing & Product Officer at Zapp said: “People believe that Agile is easy. It is not. IndigoBlue enabled us to realise the potential of Agile in a fast changing environment to deliver a winning product and customer experience whist providing control visibility and well managed risk.”
