Business Focused IT Review

Many organisations find that their IT evolves to meet day-to-day needs and initiatives rather than having been planned and directed to meet the organisation's strategic objectives. As a consequence, there can often be a mismatch between the IT and the needs of the business.

IndigoBlue's Strategic IT Review is a phased study involving all the major internal stakeholders and IT suppliers. We take a business-led approach and investigate the potential for automation and integration of business processes and review IT provision against best practice.

Our phased, incremental, collaborative approach offers a number of advantages:

• A successful strategy cannot be defined analytically and imposed - collaboration and feedback is required to arrive at a practical and balanced strategy.
• Introducing a new strategy is a programme of change, involving a wide range of people at all levels within the organisation.
• An emergent strategy can start at a simple level and be enhanced as necessary to result in a closely tailored solution.

IndigoBlue's Strategic IT Review re-aligns an organisation's IT to its business objectives.

The output of the review is a detailed report defining:

• The IT Strategy derived from the overall Business Strategy
• The IT-related challenges to delivering the Business Strategy
• Recommendations on key business systems
• Recommendations on any organisational and/or process changes needed to improve IT delivery

For many clients, we then remain responsible for the implementation of the recommendations through our part-time IT Director service - "Agile CIO" - to lead the implementation of the business and IT changes.
