Agile Management Services

IndigoBlue's programme and project management services enable organisations to significantly improve their ability to deliver IT projects: reducing cost, raising quality and ultimately meeting and exceeding their customers' needs and expectations. We assist organisations in the introduction of Agile management processes, or in the improvement of their existing processes through the pragmatic application of Agile techniques.

Our services are designed to support our customers at every step of process improvement: from initial workshops and pilot projects, process development, project and programme management, through to departmental and organisational transition.

Agile Management Services

Introductory Services – Discrete Projects

Agile is clearly and obviously suited to small-scale projects – it is relatively straightforward to get very positive results “trialling” an Agile approach in this way. That isn’t to say there aren’t challenges: new skills are required, and an isolated project using a new approach often comes into conflict with existing procedures, behaviours, and expectations.

IndigoBlue’s introductory Agile services are specifically aimed at achieving three goals:

  • Delivering value through the implementation of Agile techniques on a specific project
  • Demonstrating the benefits that are achievable through the use of the approach
  • Identifying the constraints and issues which are likely to occur with a wider take-up of Agile in the specific organisational environment.

IndigoBlue’s approach is collaborative. Support is provided though coaches: experienced individuals who work within the project team. The coach offers the dual benefits of guidance and support in the use of Agile methods while also working within the project as a contributing team member (manager, developer, analyst etc.). The value of experience on a day-to-day basis will ensure fast and effective problem resolution and will prove critical in the success of the project.

Scaling Agile – Programme and Departmental Management

The introductory services are focused on achieving a level of capability, across the range of IT roles, in a relatively contained context. Scaling up the Agile approach has a wider impact across IT and into the business and as such has a number of additional requirements:

  • A wider capability - independent of IndigoBlue’s highly experienced mentors, including the recruitment and training of staff
  • Process definition – a document set which clearly defines the activities, roles, and procedures in the specific context; criteria for varying project approaches based on
  • Governance – ensuring a level of control through reporting, review, auditing, issue resolution, and risk management procedures that take maximum advantage of the Agile approach, and at the same time don’t introduce overheads that dilute those benefits
  • Strategy management – providing a framework for defining and maintaining strategic objectives and decisions, and a two-way engagement with projects in-progress to optimise return on investment and staff motivation
  • Organisational management – addressing potential changes in organisation structure, staff management, and environmental context to both maximise benefits, and address changes in role definition and staff expectations
  • Customer relationship management – redefining the procedures for engaging with the business stakeholders and expectation and commitment management We believe that our experience of supporting companies through the cultural and organisational changes required to successfully affect a transition to Agile management is unrivalled within the UK.

We have a deep knowledge of Agile techniques and principles, including the potential pitfalls and obstacles to be faced, and a pragmatic approach to resolving real-world issues.

Specsavers

"The continued success of Specsavers – as with any company – is hugely dependent on the quality of its staff. Of course some staff initially found it hard to embrace the changes, but we have worked hard with IndigoBlue to integrate the Agile methodology into our philosophy and culture."

Michel Kahn - Specsavers IT Director

BNFL

"The external view of the programme allied to the Agile approach proved invaluable. We were able to focus on the highest business priorities and quickly identify and resolve areas of weakness."
