Crossing the Chasm

Ok, so its probably an over-used senior management phrase, but I can't help but think adopting Agile is a bit like starting up and growing your own business.

When someone has a new idea for a business, they usually start small, figure out the rules of business, find out what they need to do to make their business work, identify their market, tailor their product, get the pricing right, identify how to sell their product, win some business, re-invest the learning and profits into the business to help it grow.

The definition of the word velocity as defined in a dictionary I just referenced is ‘speed in a given direction’. That has two important components and I am not convinced, that when used in an Agile context, both are always true.

IndigoBlue’s ADAPT and CONTROL provides a comprehensive framework for the governance of incremental projects. The ADAPT framework has been developed to enable a project to utilise the many different processes and techniques that qualify as being Agile.

Rather than relying solely on one "off the shelf" methodology, ADAPT allows the project to take the best bits from each, depending on the particular circumstances of the project and the client. As well as that, though, ADAPT also uses some of the best bits from traditional project management methodologies, providing the best of all worlds from a project management perspective.

Carphone Warehouse - Agile Coaching and Mentoring

IndigoBlue was the only provider who offered to take a coaching and mentoring role to help us realise our objectives. The other vendors we considered were more focused on putting in their own people and following a set process. There is now a very clear understanding of business objectives across the whole team, we have increased co-ownership of projects and the approach is very good for gaining customer involvement."
