The BBC Olympics website is based on semantic web / web 3.0 technology as is increasing proportion of the overall BBC website.
This gives the BBC considerable advantages in their editorial and publishing processes, particularly for:
See my article on the BBC's approach to using the sematic web for more on the technical details of this.
I've taken the 2 weeks of the Olympics off and have been lucky enough to go along to the Beach Volleyball on Tuesday and Hockey yesterday, with the Taekwondo to come next week. Fantastic experience so far, especially the buzz around the Olympic Park.
The event I really wanted to go to was the Canoe Slalom, but I wasn’t fortunate enough to get tickets. So congratulations to Team GB for an excellent Gold and Silver this afternoon! Tim Baillie and Etienne Stott, together with David Florence and Richard Hounslow did brilliantly.
Watching and catching up the coverage of the Canoe Slalom and other events is were the BBC coverage really came into its own. This has allowed me to catch up the action I missed when attending the events.
Looking forward to more!!
I get asked the question ‘who is your favourite 19th century Prussian Field Marshal’ quite a lot, as I suspect you do as well. There are of course several great contenders for this title, but my vote has to go Helmuth Von Moltke the Elder. Why? Because of his contribution to the concept of dynamic planning! Trying to convince people that planning is a continuous and never ending process and not something that’s completed at the start of a project is a constant challenge for me and I will grab any support I can get.
